What are the days and opening hours of Meze Market?

Meze Market takes place every Thursday and Sunday morning, from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm, in the town centre. It is one of the liveliest weekly events, especially on Sundays, when the stalls and visitors fill much of the heart of the town.

You will find fruit and vegetables, food products and regional specialities, as well as clothing, accessories and a variety of goods sold by travelling traders. The atmosphere is typically Mediterranean: people chat, browse, meet in the aisles and take their time.

To make the most of the market, it is best to come in the morning. And if you are on holiday in Meze, do not necessarily expect to leave with only three tomatoes: the market has a certain tendency to make the shopping list longer.

Where is Meze Market located?

Meze Market is held right in the heart of the town centre, around Les Halles, on the Esplanade, Place des Micocouliers and Place Aristide Briand. On both Thursdays and Sundays, the stalls spread through the surrounding streets and public spaces, turning the centre into a large open-air market.

From the harbour, simply walk up towards the town centre and you will reach the market in just a few minutes. If you are staying in our studio, it is even easier: there is no need to use the car to shop at the market.
Les Halles de Meze are also well worth visiting. They complement the outdoor market perfectly, with local traders and fresh produce.

What can you find at Meze Market?

Visiting Meze Market is all about enjoying a wide variety of colours, aromas and products. Food stalls play an important role, with seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as olives, dried fruit, spices, biscuits and other local specialities.
The market is not limited to food. You will also find stalls selling clothing, accessories, shoes, household items and many other products that change throughout the year and with the seasons.

This variety is part of what makes the market so enjoyable: you may come to buy a few vegetables for lunch and leave with something completely different in your basket.

Market flavours

A visit to Meze Market would not be complete without stopping at the food stalls. Olives, tapenades, dried fruit, bread, biscuits and other specialities quickly catch the eye… and sometimes make it a little too easy to spend more than planned.
That is also part of the pleasure of the market: tasting, chatting with the stallholders and taking home a few products to share over an aperitif. In the South of France, there is always a good reason for an aperitif.

Les Halles de Meze: the market continues indoors

On market days, do not limit yourself to the stalls in the streets: step inside Les Halles de Meze as well. Located in the heart of the town centre, they are an important part of the Thursday and Sunday morning atmosphere.

Inside Les Halles, you will find local traders and fresh products in a more intimate atmosphere than at the outdoor market. Among them, Herrera butcher’s shop, located in the heart of Les Halles, is one of the good places to stop for your shopping.

And since Chez Mitron is also located inside Les Halles, you have another good reason to extend your visit: do a little shopping, then stop for a coffee or a drink on the outdoor terrace.
